Surf anonymously with Firefox

anonymoX for Firefox is an add-on that gives you fast and anonymous browsing with a single click of a button. It houses its own proxy servers that you can use to change your IP address or modify your location.

With this security and privacy extension, you will be able to access websites that are either blocked or censored in your country. You can freely use its service but, if you wish to experience ad-free and unrestricted usage, you will need to subscribe to anonymoX Premium. Alternatively, you can check out similar add-ons Browsec VPN or Hula Unlimited Free VPN.

What is anonymoX?

If you're concerned about privacy online, anonymoX is the best option. When enabled, you'll be able to pick a random IP, delete cookies and view your public IP, all with a view to making life online just that little bit safer. Unlike other IP hiders and proxies that are complicated to set up and can seriously slow down browsing, this security browser tool is easy to install as a basic Firefox add-on.

It automatically enables a random identity by simply clicking on the icon beside the address bar. You'll then be able to pick a specific identity from the list provided, including US, European and Asian IPs. It has the capability to go a step further by helpfully prompting you to delete your cookies when leaving a website or changing identities, which prevent sites from recognizing you.

Furthermore, this lightweight utility enables you to swap between its own service and Tor, and you can enable the information in the bottom add-on bar. It will show you what identity you are currently connected to, and which IP is publicly visible. Clicking on this information will allow you to change it as well.

Excellent but, quite rigid

anonymoX offers good service, although not particularly flexible. The configuration options are limited to what you see in the interface, but on the other hand, this means also that the service is very simple to use. Using most identities, you can find that this privacy solution is pretty fast, but, as always, some locales were slower than others, especially when choosing the US.

Good for casual anonymization

anonymoX is a great and easy-to-use Firefox tool that will perfectly suit your casual anonymization needs. If you are looking for spontaneous and infrequent IP hiding when using the Firefox browser, this is a highly suggested free option. You could always upgrade to the premium service to experience it without any restriction or ad interruption. However, if you are looking for slightly more detailed or configurable anonymization, you can try checking out Hotspot Shield, ZenMate, or TunnelBear
